Auxiliary Academy

The Auxiliary Police Officer provices a valuable service to the City of Oshkosh, giving of their time and experience. With that, the Academy has been developed to provide an educational opportunity through training, to assist the Officer in the performance of those duties.

AUXILIARY ACADEMY

Do largely to the efforts of Lt. Jewell, an Auxiliary Academy training series of classes have been developed. The Auxiliary Academy program is designed to provide new recruits and current Auxiliary Officers with comprehensive instruction and information related to various law enforcement and public safety policies, procedures and techniques used by the Oshkosh Police Department. The goal is to further enable Auxiliary Police Officers to perform assigned tasks with a higher sense of overall awareness, understanding, discipline and confidence. The Auxiliary Academy program is to be more advanced than the typical training given at monthly meetings. Instruction will be designed and provided by the Oshkosh Police Department Training Staff. Training methods will use both lecture and hands-on techniques to insure that the skills presented are clearly understood by the trainees.
